SEEKING APPLICATIONS FOR DISPATCHER - 911

Leelanau County is seeking qualified applicants for a DISPATCHER. The dispatch center is a 24-hour/seven (7)-day operation and is required to be staffed by no less than two persons at all times. Employees may be required to work any shift, including weekends and holidays, and will be required to work some overtime, as needed. Leelanau County Dispatch personnel are unionized, represented by the Fraternal Order of Police Labor Council (FOPLC). Per current union contract, successful applicants will enter the training program at a pay rate of $2 less per hour. Upon successful completion of the 14-week training period, the pay rate will revert to $22.70/hr.

The Leelanau County Sheriff’s Office is currently seeking applicants to fill positions in the Corrections Division. We currently have an immediate vacancy, and also anticipate another opening this fall.

$22.33-28.01 Hourly Wage

Minimum requirements include: U.S. citizen; 18 years old; Graduation from an accredited high school-Associates Degree preferred, Computer experience helpful; Veterans are encouraged. Pass written test, oral (Board) interview, background investigation, drug screening, medical and psychological evaluations. Completion of the EMPCO Local Corrections Officer Exam and Local Corrections Officer Physical Agilities Test are also required. Firearms experience helpful as qualification is required within the first year.

SEEKING APPLICATIONS FOR COUNTY ADMINISTRATOR\CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER

The Leelanau County Board of Commissioners is seeking an experienced manager and leader to work with as a team member, supporter, and trusted advisor. The next County Administrator\Chief Financial Officer will work closely with the Board to implement its priorities and policies. The individual will have a solid working knowledge of Michigan County Government and state-mandated accounting practices. The Board understands that it should set policy while the Administrator\CFO should run the day-to-day operations. The ideal candidate must have demonstrated experience working successfully with a Board to establish a vision, identify goals, and collaboratively chart a course for the future.

Leelanau County operates on a $16.5 million general fund budget, and special funds budgets equate to $14.3 million. It has 129 employees with six unions. 

A master’s degree is preferred for this position from an accredited four-year college or university, with major coursework in public administration, business administration, accounting, or related fields. Desired qualifications include at least three years of direct county government or five years of equivalent Board experience in a similarly sized organization. Extensive knowledge of Michigan laws related to county government and accounting.

Annual Salary: $110,000-$140,000 with a comprehensive benefits package

The Commission seeks a multi-year contract that includes annual performance reviews.
