NOTICE OF 30-DAY PUBLIC REVIEW AND COMMENT PERIOD FOR THE FIVE YEAR (2025-2029) PARKS AND RECREATION PLAN AND NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING DATE ON JANUARY 7, 2025
Public Review Period: December 5, 2024 – January 5, 2025
Notice is hereby given to any and all interested parties that the Village of Empire is seeking public comment on the Five-Year (2025-2029) Parks and Recreation Plan. The Village of Empire is preparing this Five-Year Plan in accordance with the Michigan Department of Natural Resources requirements. When completed, this Plan will serve as a guide for the development of community recreation facilities and programs over the next five years.
Beginning December 5, 2024, copies of the draft Five-Year Parks and Recreation Plan may be found at the Village Office (11537 S. Leelanau Hwy., Empire, MI 49630) and the Glen Lake Community Library (10115 W. Front St., Empire, MI 49630) during normal business hours. The draft Plan may also be accessed online at www.leelanau.gov.
Comments may be submitted in writing via email to: deputyclerk@villageofempire.com, by mail to: P.O. Box 253, Empire, MI 49630 or in person at the Village of Empire Offices located at 11537 S. Leelanau Hwy., Empire, MI 49630.
Notice is also given for a public hearing scheduled at 7:00pm on January 7, 2025, in accordance with the Michigan Department of Natural Resources requirements. The purpose of this hearing is to garner additional public comment on the draft Five-Year Parks and Recreation Plan. The hearing will take place in the Empire Township Hall, 10088 W. Front St., Empire, MI 49630 and will be followed by a special meeting of the planning commission to finalize the draft plan for Village Council consideration and adoption.
